What I Am

What I Am

A Poem by E.M.Oglesbee

Everyday, people ask me,

What I am.

The wording changes,

But the question remains constant.

And I have but one answer,

I am what I am,

Nothing more, nothing less

If they cannot see what I am,

With their own eyes,

Then they do not deserve to know.

You know, now that I think about it, this poem is true. Everyday, people present us with situations, or questions, or what have you where they are basically asking, "What are you? Who are you?" And our actions answer them. No need to tell them what or who we are. For, as you said, we are what we are.

Beautiful and insightful.
