Maybe what happened could have been prevented. But I'm sure that there was no excuses.

His hazel eyes seemed to glance at me from across the ballroom seemingly negatively. What was I supposed to say? His eyes almost bade me feel as if I was being held a captive in his personal hell; maybe a prisoner of war. Maybe it was a repeat of my time back in Afghan. After all, you never forget. I was indeed wanted by multiple and various family trees and bloodlines. Even though I didn't want to feel the seemingly replaceable truth, I knew.  I could have most likely prevented the string of unfortunate events that would one day ripple through my memory. Maybe I could have changed how it all went down. In all honestly, it seemed to be out of my reach. Taking his hand would have made perfect sense for anyone that was a sucker for false pretenses. But myself, you must believe that I, Dawn Marie Summers was to be something completely different.

It happened in the autumn-time. Her golden eyes glowed perfectly in the flowing red dress she wore. I wasn't surprised that she looked the best she ever had. But no matter what or how she looked, I knew what my mission was. I was Aiden Miguel Luzon, and my target had to die. With all of the protests she made, I still knew what I had to do. I forced my masculine hand down onto her somewhat fragile body, even though I knew she was easily strong enough to overpower me. She put up the same fight she always did when it came down to this. But this time, she wasn't going to get away.

I ripped my arm away from him, but I realized once more that it was useless to even try and save myself from the nearing end. His eyes seemed to penetrate everything I believed in, and just ruined me; destroying my all. It felt almost like the first time I met him, but he knew his job and his place. It could be a hundred years ago. No, a thousand, but I'll still remember his cold hard stare. Mercy, clearly wasn't in his book. And the chapters weren't titled remorse.

Dawn and Aiden, after years trying to kill each other, finally realized the true purpose of it all. It was something greater. They both seemed to have what the other wanted, so they made a compromise. Who had sent them would come to their final days and be eliminated. Regardless of the cause and who killed them. They would work together as Dusk And Dawn, but after all; the lesson was learned and they both learned the truth, that they shared the same genetics. And in a future world, they have kids who took after their parents in millions of ways~
