Another FightA Story by OdonesThis piece ties in well with Lines of Crimson. Sort of an epilogue that I was happy enough with. I don't know if its your thing, I don't know if its anyone's thing, but I hope you can enjoy it.Silver rain mixes with the violin thunder, casting shadows through the tree tops. Its surreal, but nothing she hasn't seen before. And she knows what it will bring; sure enough the soft footsteps of another entering her domain, trying to escape the inevitable rain. Its not a meal, not a friend, or anyone she's ever knows, It's just another soldier crashing through her home in the woods. She crouches, hiding her white pelt in the tall, wet grass. The reeds knows what to do, she knows what she needs, and their cooperation shields her from his steel toe boots. Left, right, left, right. They move onward and she knows shes safe. But the others aren't; this wild man must die. He moves past, and she takes her chance plunging out of the tall grass. He starts to turn about but its too late. She forces a dagger into his back; no remorse can be shown in war, and she completes her assault by sinking her maw of powerful teeth into his neck. It's not the dagger that ends his life, its her powerful canine jaws, and she knows it when she has to swallow downs his life blood as it fills her mouth. The man slumps into her awaiting arms and she takes the time to bury his vessel in life. Its not to hide him, its to show respect. His war is over and what kind of monster would she be if she didn't give grace now? © 2010 Odones |
