Iwacu Mu Rwanda

A Poem by Odette Ntambara
"

Iwacu Mu Rwanda(Our Rwanda)

One day she cried with tears that almost consumed her

On that day her vision slowly became blur

Few heard her cries of despair

But for some her pleas were simply ignored

For days her tears spoke of worry

They spoke of lose

They spoke of suffering

With tears filled with unanswered questions she began to stumble

For days she cried as her people lost all hope

Miserably, all her children struggled to cope

On that day she cried violently with no surety of a truce

From that day her ideology victimised her existence

History was not so long ago and so today she remembers

She remembers those she lost and wipes away the tears that turned friends to enemies

Today she wipes away those tears that divided families

Today she wipes away the tears shed and vows never again!

History did not condemn her for today she stands for a blooming land

A land that has restored,

A land that has sustained,

A land that is plentiful,

A land that innovates,

The land for the youth

Never again! Is her today and her future
