The time we have here

The time we have here

A Poem by Risuzee

From the moment we're born we're given an alarm clock. It's quite long, this peculiar timer and, it doesn't have a snooze button like the one we jam our hands on when we have no means of getting up in the morning. This alarm clock, to most people, is invisible. They can definitely feel it in their chest, but they refuse to believe it's their personal countdown. Sometimes, this beating in our chest can quicken, when we run along side the wind, when we watch a horror film, or even if we're with someone that's a little more special than everybody else. This alarm clock is very special, because not one person has the exact same kind. Each one is tinkered specifically for that one individual. That's why everyone in this entire universe is special.

Wow. This is such a little gem of a piece. It's so interesting to think of hearts as alarm clocks -- especially since we all have such a complicated relationship with time. I really enjoyed this.

I love the metaphor you used! I often feel like our "alarm clocks" do nothing but remind us of our time running out.
