Introduction

Leon guided his horse up the drive to a large house. The town’s people had warned against it, but he was curious to see if the gossip was true. Rumor had it that a monster lived there, cursed to forever retain the form of a beast. The owner of the house, he was the one everyone talked about. They thought that he was the beast. It was also rumored that he held a young woman captive there.

As he approached the house he looked at the estate around it. There were gnarled trees and thick, misshapen rose bushes, without the roses. The grass was patched and the air was musty. The house itself was beautiful, if not dark and menacing. The large structure had missing stones and the windows were dirty. The paths leading up to it had trees that had lost their leaves that may have once had a lovely shape. Off to one side of the house there looked to be what used to be a maze garden that had overgrown.
