So Different

So Different

A Poem by Odayin

It's all so different,

Everything we ever did,

Nothing compares to you,

We've been friends since we were kids.

You had an incredible impact on my soul,

My personality has been shaken and shocked,

I'll let you in on the secret of my change,

I'll open those doors that've been locked.

You were always my companion,

Often standing at my side,

I've tried to find a replacement,

But it's to myself I've lied.

The lights seem dimmer,

The inner glow dying,

They seem to have lost their lust,

Or maybe my mind's just lying.

But why is it all so different?

Is it you, or is it all me?

Your absence has triggered something,

And now I'm not anything I want to be.

I stay away from ancient tasks,

Usually just lie in bed,

Like i said, things are different now...

Now that you're dead...

It is a great gift in life when one can impact us and open our inner spark to see more of the world around us. Even though those people may be long gone from the path that we traverse, their gift remains. It continues to allow us to see through their eyes as we keep inside the wisdom's that they shared in the time that they walked side by side. While we may miss them and walk memory lane. Rejoice in that which they offered, for it's a one of kind gift. Great Ink!

Nice at the beginning, and it ends with a strong punch: "Now that you're dead..." This is very emotional, you expressed your feelings very well. Desperation, sadness and emptiness flows in it! I specially like the first stanza and i can totally relate to this! 100 for this! (;
Thanks for sharing..Keep it up :D

WOW! I love the ending! That was an amazing raw poem of pure emotion and tone, it's gorgeous and I love your choices of wording. You may want to work a little on punctuation but just as is it's an epic poem!

you conveyed thought and feeling well in this poem..the end stunned me and so was of great impact. One thing, 'that've' in the first verse doesn't seem right...better just write, 'that have' :)

Why haven't i reviewed this amazing poem yet? Clearly I'm blind when it comes to spotting perfection. The way you express the loss of a loved one is just beautiful. This made me realize I shouldn't take any moment with family friends, pet, or anything at all for granted. Life is just too precious to not treat each day more special than the last. It makes me think what would I miss most the memories or the person itself? Would I yearn for new or old times? It's unbelievable how much a death can impact your life. I have seen people totally change from what they used to be because of a death. It makes you feel as though you shouldn't go on. As people think about death of their loved ones they start acting as though they are with them. A depressed person acts as though they are not living. They aren't really there. They are in their own reality. You know what I'm saying? If somebody in my life died I would use what I've seen to try to push forward. In death people wish for you to move on not stick around. Don't get left behind by time. Follow time! Keep up! Keep pushing forward! "Usually just lie in bed" You explain it right there! People act like they are on their own death bed. Why? You'd think people would like to grant a person's last wish and move on. But I know this is impossible. Everything causes change whether it is big or small. You might not even be able to notice how someone is changed after a death they might hide it. Fake smiles can be down well if you don't want pity. If depressed people don't want pity why do they assume the dead want it? Why pity the dead and not yourself? They wouldn't want it that way and neither should you. I say all of this but I know I would be the same way if somebody died. Everyone deals with it differently though. Some take it out on sports. Some on others. And some write their feelings out like you did in this poem. I believe I would write it out. I write out my feelings even if they aren't strong. You can see it in my writing. Most of it is about something that is on my mind. Whether it is bothering me or it makes me happy. Anyways good job on this. Splendid write and I'm looking forward to seeing more from you. Write more of your feelings out. Don't bundle them up. You have a tremendous gift that God gave you...Don't stop using it.

i cant tell whats more gallons...this review or the actual poem hahah
What a great read. I was able to connect with every word, every stanza. Whenever something so prominent leaves us, nothing is ever the same; we are forever changed. I have had many experiences like this, sad to say, and these words that you have written down describe the feeling just perfectly. Wonderful work. Just beautiful. Thank you.
