How to lead

How to lead

A Poem by Odayin

I was too young, when they came.

Seeing disaster, feeling pain.

Helplessly watching, she's dragged out of sight.

Looking back, it's what made me want to fight.

Daydream broken by a pool of red,

Looking down and seeing a friend dead,

His killer's head only inches away,

Just slash at it without delay.

Return to the battle, change of heart.

Thoughts crowded, you miss the start.

Just stand by, watch them bleed.

Learn this, and you can lead.

The first person in an attack...hmm..but I don't think that's what you mean exactly. (or not at least to me) This individual has taken a stand and unknowingly started this battle...being the leader has its non-rewarding moments too. You started it...maybe you've decided that "ok..now this will finally end if that one is gone".. but then others take up after you for not the same reasons...Drawback of being a leader..yes?? You write very simple in this one...but I do think that it has a double meaning for me when I read through a few times..
"Just stand by, watch them bleed."
In shock and horror did I begin this deed
...Not able to stop the river of dead
...Panning the scene I shiver with dread. (leader's second thoughts) :)
Love the darkness in this poem you wrote though...keeps it all the way through. :)

Oh my.
This poem gave me goosebumps.
Such intense writing.
The cynicism, the sarcasm, the imagery, all so powerful.
Amazing write.
