I Fall For It Every Time

I Fall For It Every Time

A Poem by Mary E. Green
"

Just came to me while watching a show on t.v. one night

"
Play nice, say a few words, make some promises

"I'm sorry" and "It won't happen again"

I fall for it every time

Too scared to walk away and too terrified to stay

I put on a fake smile, give a brief touch, and say "I'm okay"

Once again the lies consume me

They take away my doubts, my questions, and my insecurities

Erasing all of my fears for a moment or two

I'm trapped in a never ending cycle

Lord knows it is a constant fight with all of these excuses getting the best of me

You get mad, I get hurt, then you say "I'm sorry"

I listen and I fall for it once again as I tell myself "I'm okay"
