False Hope

False Hope

A Poem by Mary E. Green

Heart racing

Mind spinning

Tears falling

Voices calling

Distant sounds and distant memories

Pushes you forward

Embrace the reality of what is

Your eyes are heavy, your mind is numb

You need a release

Let's walk a little further, darlin

Trust me

They don't want you back there

The soft murmur of people gone on

Subsides into my gentle rock-a-bye

The sun begins to fade

Darkness comes easily

Entranced by the calling

Convinced the promises are real

They beckon you

Tempting you with every word, every false hope

Different style here, but I felt it added to the emotions. Tempting you with every word, every false hope.....an excellent choise for the end of this work. Nice!
