It's Over

It's Over

A Poem by Mary E. Green

Thought we would last forever
Knew I wanted us to make it
Never thought that it would come to this
Hanging on for dear life
Trying to hold to the end of the line

My heart is breaking, my soul is dying
As the tears blacken my eyes
I cry out to you
"Please don't go"

You said we could make it through
You said you would forgive
That we would be able to move on
You promised me forever
You swore you would not leave

Now you pack your bags
And you lay your hand upon my cheek
Then walk out the door
Telling me that it was just too hard
You tried forgiving
But couldn't move past it
And now we're over

When a relationship is over and there are no good parts left to salvage, it is best to move onward and upward. No, you will never forget, but you will love again...and live again. Well written poetry. Lydia
