A Cage Forgotten

A Cage Forgotten

A Poem by Octi
"

It's been a while since I've done anything...so here we I go

"
Alone sways a cage in the breeze,
its golden paint flaked off long ago,
leaving a layer of steel behind,
half-covered in rust.

Silently sways a cage in the breeze,
without birds chirping away from inside.
The world around the cage continues on,
oblivious of the silence.

Hopefully sways a cage in the breeze,
hoping that someone might find its way to it
and it may hear the music of the world
again.

Patiently sways a cage in the breeze,
the wind continuing to blow gently
as years pass and the cage
can only see the plants which have grown in around it.

Happily sways a cage in the breeze,
hearing the soft steps of a child
slowly stepping towards it,
touching it with the small, soft hands.

Joyfully sways a cage in the breeze,
the song of a nightingale emits from it
and the sound of children laughing
fills the air around it.

Author's Note

Octi
I might do a poem about the history of this cage.
Sorry that it has been a while since I've done anything. School decided to gives out a lot of homework and tests recently.

The first stanza was flawless and engaging it its description of the cage. The repitition device I guess works but perhaps gets a little stale after about three stanzas. It does tell a nice tale of an inanimate and forgotton object finding happiness again after lack of use.
