expectations

expectations

A Poem by Ochu

Life is full of expectations, that we will grow up to be married, or
grow up at all. That the friend or family member we love dearly will be
there in the morning, but expectations don't always come true.
Sometimes, lives are cut short. Sometimes we wake up to loss and regret,
for things unsaid and goodbyes that were never given. We are left to
mourn and worry about our own time coming to an end. The fear, and
anxiety of unanswerable questions. Life ends. Its a fact we spend our
whole lives running from, until it catches up with us. Does that make us
foolish? Probably, but as scary and unknowable as death is, without it,
life would be a prison. Instead we live our lives at full sprint in the
opposite direction determined to live this thing called life. To laugh
and smile, to scream and cry. With but knowing it can end, a prison
becomes a playground of wonderment and beauty. Inescapable pain, to
determined ecstasy in a marathon of life. So don't pity those who have
passed. Miss them, miss their faces and their laughter, but they can
finally rest. Let there race come to an end, and finally not have to try
so hard.
