Chewing Gum

Chewing Gum

A Poem by Ocean Doubtfire

My soul is bones and barely skin,

It will not take anything in,

It cannot bring itself to eat

But salt and crackers. In complete

Contrast you cannot get enough

Of the sweet, sickly, processed stuff

That's advertised by grinning teeth

And fattens you beyond belief.

My anorexia protests

The gloating bloating of the rest

On trifles, comfort food and cheese

Alas my starving soul agrees

To play a game of zero sum

Where I'm reduced to chewing gum

For I've lost faith even in bread

That keeps the pseudo humans fed.
