Cactus

Cactus

A Poem by Ocean Doubtfire
"

This is the first in a form I created- 15 lines of 6 syllables then 5 then 4 and repeat. I would name the form after the original poem so a poem in this form is a 'cactus'.

"

She bought me a cactus

and she would come round

and water it

until it overflowed,

and then she didn't.

And so the drips

from the puddle on my

windowsill dried up,

and the mould died,

and yet the cactus lived.

So now and then, when

I think of her-

although I never had

a need of cacti-

I water it.
