Black Nirvana

Black Nirvana

A Poem by Ocean Doubtfire

I prophesize Nirvana painted black

Once false enlightenment has made us cruel

Though cruelty’s painted white among the pack,

Morality the territory of fools.

The boastful snobs who deign not kill a fly

Turn merciless and tyrannise the low

Who disregard this ruling of the high

And may be gentle too for all they know.

Salvation from the soul’s imposter thus

Unshackles and ordains a violent creed,

Where piety’s conceit had fostered us

We modestly choose strength, ergo we’re freed.

I humble my disdain for natural law,

Adopting gratefully her gifts bequeathed.

A pacifist rejects the state of awe

My apex monks embrace in claw and teeth.

I feel no shame in brotherhood with snakes,

I’d slither too had I been so designed;

I know what vain pretence of honour takes-

All dignity, thus clowns are humankind.

Unravelling this riddle to the fooled

Has little use except to feed my wrath,

They’re executing aught they haven’t ruled

And sooner would a steam train leave its path.

Seek me among the wolves when sense returns

And I’ll be tame again when all are true

Yet presently I have a beast’s concerns,

Likewise do my deserted if they knew.
