Alas

Alas

A Poem by Ocean Doubtfire
"

Bewailing the vain and emasculated modern world.

"

I was meant to be an axe, to fell sequoias

By an arm of oak, swung and thudded

Into nature's hardihood

As warbling birds betrayed their nests.

Alas

I am a crocodile skin handbag,

Clutching credit cards and car keys

And a make-up mirror

Kissed with blood red lipstick.
