Teen Love

Teen Love

A Poem by Ocean Doubtfire

Have you skipped school to smoke a cigarette

And meet your girlfriend in her parents' bed?

Be quick about it if you haven’t yet

Or you’ll regret the life you could have led.

She was my simplest friend, most natural limb,

I'd sink into her soul as we entwined,

Our fumbling joy would overflow its brim

And gently love was made, the purest kind.

If I knew then how rarely we were free-

How careless of a world yet unrevealed,

Just two ripe apples on a rotten tree-

I’d have suppressed my doubts until they healed.

I bear her ghost remorseful, and am proud

To secret heartache from the madding crowd.

This fits my first love and our relationship almost to a "T"---

back when we were young...it was more a time of innocence, a careless world of naivety---
sometimes I wish I could go back there...but knowing what I know now....having that knowledge would ruin it. You let it be just as it was...and I often "secret" my "heartache from the madding crowd"--
nicely done.
