Walking on Eggshells

Walking on Eggshells

A Poem by Ocean Doubtfire

Respect their way they say

Ok, ok,

All ways are just as good

You should, you should,

Respect their way

Ok, ok, ok.

And you should tolerate that thought

You know, you know,

That different’s just the same

You ought, you ought,

To have respect

And so we’re taught, we’re taught.

And so ignore, ignore, ignore,

That all these things cannot be reconciled;

There is no right and wrong

Or weak and strong

Or clever and dim

Or fat and trim

Just ok, ok, ok, respect,

Ignore the ignorance, forget.

Just don’t offend. No,

Make sure no one gets offended.

It’s mean to show hypocrisy

When it can’t be defended.

So ill at ease let’s let it hide behind offences

These are ‘touchy’ subjects these,

It’s better not to be too pensive,

Better leave things well alone,

The truth, we know, cannot be known.
