Take a BowA Poem by L. CatherineSomeone once told me that I couldn't do what my heart desired because I made a choice to do one thing and I was limited to only that. This just explains my story of how I overcame that person.I stand upon an open stage, with an audience of one looking up in rage. This hatred and anger did not have to be, but you decided you no longer needed me. I was your servant, your accomplice, your devoted friend, then you decided the happiness would end. Like a dog, I bowed to your every whim, until my anger reached the brim of my cup so chipped and broken, but I still continued to live unheard, unspoken. But now that time is no more, I have found the voice that I was always searching for. I’ve battled everything you’ve thrown my way, and yet you still have the nerve to continue your play. But now as I stand before you on this open stage and see you look up at me in a quiet rage, I pity you, Because I know that I have overcome much more than you ever will And I will take my final bow while you stand still. © 2012 L.
