Joy Ride

Joy Ride

A Poem by Ocean
"

Freedom

"

Speeding through the galaxies

Slicing through the stars

I'm going on, out there, somewhere

Beyond the moon and Mars.

Warp drive will take me faster

Far away from planet Earth

Through unfamiliar territory

New life, new hope, rebirth.

Advancing through the depth of space

Away from human kind,

In charge and master of my craft

They'll seek but they'll not find.

Irresponsible but clever

Outmanoevre those who chase,

A destination to aim for

Would-be captors I can't face.

Nearly at my journey's end now

Evaded capture several times

My soul prepares for liberty

Released of all its crimes

You see I'm alien to humans

Who want to influence my life

Just because I am so different,

Energetic and alive

Time to seek out those who know me

Thank you craft for my joy ride

I didn't ask permission

But you gave me back my pride.

I like this, a nice, fairly tight metrical scheme with rhyme; not many can do it you know. The metre gets a bit tricky towards the end but could be tightened a little. But good, an interesting piece.
