Truths

A Poem by S.Gillogly
"

Feeling Philosophical... <3

"
Humans have one truly frightening and constant truth.

Do what you can with what time you have.

We, as humans, feel like our lives are long and fruitful, and they are compared to some of the other species sharing this world with us. But compared to the universe, whose life span is said to be continuous, what do we have? Human life is a fragment of time, smaller than the head of a needle or pin. It is a blip on the universe's infinite radar. And so we choose to search and discover, to pray and believe, and to try and be conent with what we have.
But another truth has decided to poke it's disturbing and beautiful little head out of the cloudy depths of this writer's mind.

Humans are merely temporary inhabitants of an already dying world.

Hm. Insightful. This is the kind of poem that makes you think, i like that :) I like your comparisons, how you say that life seems to be continuous, yet only a blip on the universe's infinite radar. Also, the fact that you mentioned the already dying world. If you go into more detail, everything is dying by the second. We as organisms live, yet are dying. Some more than others. I agree, humans are merely temporary inhabitants of the world. Then again, everything is temporary if you think about it. One day the world will become a volcanic island once again, and millions of years later, life shall begin to exist once again. I liked this poem a lot, :)
