Vain Desires

Vain Desires

A Poem by ObscurityNone
"

No, not a concept... But a name, one not easily spoken.

"

The day grew dark, the clouds rolled in, shadowing what little sunlight remained. Voices echoed incoherently. Deep disturbing shrieks. The sun concealed to a somber containment. Blood-lust and rage culminated to inconceivable heights. Weapons clashed, heads were smashed with a thick sheet of protective steel. Limbs were lopped completely off. Tears ran, as did their cowards. Blood spilled with gashes from a large broad blade. No chance was there ever in their numbers. As the morbid onslaught subsided, there lay forty three men...not one was breathing.

This was originally a part of a story I was creating however for some reason this scene just came to me from the get-go. This seemed much more like poetry to me than anything.

Dark and gruesome intense and compact. Also would lend itself to treatment via short film. Prose poetry in a fine state. It makes a powerful component to that story, although I have not seen the rest of it, yet. :-)
