Written for the 'Trees' contest. Trees to me represent life, strength, love and afterlife. Last weekend, I actually bought a canvas painting of a tree very much like the pic. for my bedroom. So beautiful.
I share your love and admiration of trees, O! You may be familiar with JRR Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" and his race of tree-beings called "Ents." Those parts of his books are some of the most satisfying to me, and he clearly had a great love of trees. Your poem is a wonderful ode to these most majestic creations.
Right away, a tree has SO much literal vital and metaphorically rich significance! Tree of Life -- methinks the human nervous system even models it. Then there's the oxygenation cycle. . .
Have you ever been in a redwood grove? That palpable presence of ancient silent sentinel trees, thousands of years old, is awesome! Best place to camp out!
"In Awe of Trees" -- indeed! A lovely, powerfully important sentiment!
Wow! This is simply great; the ending is just perfect and so thoughtful. Well, the entire writing for me is very deep and soulful. I also admire nature and specially trees, I simply love them! But unfortunately there are no trees at where I live :(
But this is exceptionally well!
Great work!
I toyed with going for SQUASHED and 69 and was intrigued by the Mel mug shot...but the title of this one pulled me in. I like the title a lot. We take trees to much for granted. They are just ... there ... like, trees right? But they are lot, lot more than that. The form a backdrop to our lives in many ways. We play around and in them, we may even measure ourselves against them, etc, etc. Your well-observed poem captures some of their wonderful qualities. I am sure trees are correlated to the quality of our lives. 'A ballerina on sturdy toes' is the best line for me.
that was so nice and so wise just imagine us on a planet with no trees ,i would surely would seek some other planet ,ha ha,but there are no trees but on earth our lovely earth,i wish they would stop changing the shape of earth ,in seychelles anyone who cut a tree or just some leaves or branches, its a seriuos crime ,no matter what his cause is ,its the land that man hand had least touched or changed they call it paradise, its like a jungle everywhere ,so beautiful ,i really liked this work ,you tell it so romantically ,very nice
Adore those lines... Yes, trees do feel like these majestic ever sturdy things that have always been around and will stand for a lot longer. There is this odd beauty to them that you capture nicely in this one... Cute and sweet and all deep meaning wrapped in a package...
Another great write. I love big beautiful trees, I love being surrounded by them, feeling the breeze as they wave in the wind. I hope you did well in the contest. I really loved how descriptive you got with this, "gracefully move like a ballerina on sturdy toes, roots of a courageous fighter..." wonderfully done. ;)
I too share the love and feeling of closeness [if that makes sense? but I think you understand] This is wonderful O!. I admire your talent, your writing always seems so effortless, as good writing should. Smiles.
