Daybreak SkiesA Poem by Obey DenyIgnorance is bliss, but is delusion better than a factual reality? Are the birds happier merely because they are birds?Daybreak Skies I look towards daybreak skies, At the freedom within their veins, The birds, they fly upon the blue And I, static from these chains Must always look up to you- They know not of their fate, As they float upon lost skies Not of love, and never of hate Nor to fall when they must rise
And these modest birds I watch them with envy day by day Never conscious of my words And yet with rage I firmly say- That the reason we live, I think Is to find something more And breathe across the brink Which is why the birds I abhor
For they live to eat, never wanting
more And they simple, but I, A complex being soon swore That to be stupid is to fly As the birds do soar *
