Daybreak Skies

Daybreak Skies

A Poem by Obey Deny
"

Ignorance is bliss, but is delusion better than a factual reality? Are the birds happier merely because they are birds?

"

Daybreak Skies

I look towards daybreak skies,

At the freedom within their veins,

The birds, they fly upon the blue

And I, static from these chains

Must always look up to you-

They know not of their fate,

As they float upon lost skies

Not of love, and never of hate

Nor to fall when they must rise

And these modest birds

I watch them with envy day by day

Never conscious of my words

And yet with rage I firmly say-

That the reason we live, I think

Is to find something more

And breathe across the brink

Which is why the birds I abhor

For they live to eat, never wanting more

And they simple, but I,

A complex being soon swore

That to be stupid is to fly

As the birds do soar

*

Along MY daybreak sky

The ease with which nature breathes... It is so easy to feel far removed from this grace. Yet destined to be the species that finds the "more" we are... Well penned poem!
