The greatest lesson anyone can learn is to not believe everything you hear.
There is a story told throughout the world. Drastically changing the perspective, opening the eyes that want to see. It's ulterior motive - to be used as a mind altering tool.
The masses deceived for so long they never realized their story of worship's purpose was to control them with fear.
Every legion of loyalists were neglected and forgotten. Their beloved Ruler's new legacy didn't have room for will that wasn't free, or so the story is told. Since Told by the ruler that turned his back on his first borns.
To question why they were forsaken branded the curious as disobedient and heretics.
Lucifer, once the Ruler's favorite pupil was unwilling chosen to be his vengeful brother's martyr.
But the true story Lucifer was neither disobedient or a heretic , for god was the true lunatic.
Bloodthirsty and full of wrath he had Lucifer and all his followers to experience suffering to the infinite as he slammed them down to their new kingdom of hell.
Having rid any distractions his next line of order was to create man, who's sole purpose was to be punished and damned.
Except God's one flaw he did not recognize was his own created contradiction.
So his story goes man was the only one bestowed with free will while claiming it to be the cause of the Angel 's jealousy and reason for a mutiny.
Yet god couldn't even explain how the angels revolted if they were never granted with free will.
They were described as obedient servants with no other qualities.
This would prove god's bloodlust consumed him enough to make his first borns suffer an eternity.
With the angels gone he had no guilt of punishing the human race for sport.
Sodom and Gamorrah was a set up to realize the potential of his seething wrath.
Every chance he had he tested his destructive powers on the human race to feed his bloodlust.
All the while Lucifer could only watch and have him claimed to be the cause and personification of all evil.
He can do nothing but sacrifice his reputation and accept his false imprisonment until the days of Revelations where he will seek his just revenge. Until then he will just sit with all his resentment and wait.
This is a very interesting point of view. I've taken an in depth look at every major religion myself; reading all of their Holy Books and taking a look at their different traditions and beliefs. I've found that every religion has the same message; to look at yourself. To question your existence; and ponder its meaning. This is where the creation of religion started.
The books can steer people off into dangerous directions, if misunderstood or spoken through perversely motivated mouths. The goal is to steer mankind's awareness beyond just mere man; for we are more than just flesh and bone. We are the witness of life and death, awareness and unawareness, dream and wakefulness. There is no good and evil, right or wrong, or any type of duality for that matter; unless it pertains to man. But we are more than mere man. If you hold onto the worldly things pertaining to mankind, you will be held by them and moved by them like a leaf in the wind. That is "Satan". There is no wrong in it; but through the eyes of man, you will bear the fruit of man. The life and death, suffering and joy, pain and pleasure, and the man will be a prisoner to the duality of his own perspective. This is an illusion, however. For the eyes of man and all that pertains to mankind is viewed through the eyes of spirit which is all we truly are. Worldly things, things of mankind; don't pertain to spirit. That is "God". This is the message of religion; to look beyond what is worldly and see within you to what is beyond it.
We think of ourselves as "selves" but this too is an illusion, which passes with the awareness of the body. We exist even beyond our sense of self; consider a deep sleep where there is no dream or awareness. Every religious book is a Hail Mary attempt (no pun intended) to steer one to destroy their sense of self and surrender it to the infinity that we truly are. Call it God, call it Brahman, call it Allah, or Buddha, or Jesus, or even nothing if you wish; there is no difference. We view life through the eyes of man so we, the infinite, can view our infinity from the perspective of our own creation. It is a beautiful thing. Thanks for sharing this, ObZen.

I was raised Catholic as well, but I don't consider myself to be any one type of religion. I find all religions to be the same other than the way they are taught. Of all the Holy Books I've read; the Bible seemed to me the most well thought out and a work of literary perfection. Quite a beautiful book. Many people do not consider that the names in the Bible translate directly from Hebrew to very specific meanings. Satan is translated to Adversary; the force that compels you to hold onto worldly things. The story of Moses, when translated, is very revealing to the message of the entire book:
The story is; God revealed himself to Moses, and Moses led the people of Israel out of Egypt.
When translated, that story's meaning becomes quite clear (though it is clear enough as it is, but I find the direct translation to be astounding).
Moses = Hebrew for; taken from, drawn out
Israel = Hebrew for; those who struggle(prevail) with God
Egypt = Hebrew for; black or dark
So when translated, the story is: God revealed himself and drew those who struggle with God out of the Dark. This story is constantly referred back to throughout the Bible; and it sums up its message very well. Man will be led out of the dark by God. God represents consciousness. He even describes himself as so in the book when Moses asks him his name:
"And God said unto Moses, I Am That I Am: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you."
Exodus 3:14 KJV
Beautiful book with a beautiful message; but, as with every great piece of art, there is the disagreement and misunderstanding along with it. It is all part of the beauty of the consciousnesses of mankind.
Of all the different devices for religious pondering, I've found self inquiry to be the most direct (the Bible can be rather abstract and open for interpretation, part of its beauty). Self Inquiry is just the simple process of asking "Who am I?" as if to find a true answer. This started with a man named Ramana Maharshi who came to peace himself through the method. Several books were written on the method. Whatever device our religious outlook; prayer, meditation, self inquiry; all the same and all is well.

Everything from "The greatest lie ever told" to "1 1 2 3 5..." was written from age 27-28
I am now 32.
I've been told I'm an "interesting" individual, with an often strange mind. I see myself , a.. more..
