One Frightful Night

One Frightful Night

A Poem by Nyx
"

Short dark poem that just popped out of my head, much to my surprise as I don't write poems.

"

One frightful night, a harrowing sight.

Arms of the scarecrow swung down, face cracked to a hollow frown.

I dashed out the way, flat over the bay, yet within its grip, I felt myself slip.

It scratched and it clawed, ripped as it pawed and tore off my silver ring.

Scattered and broke, I gasp as I choke, yet no good will pass, I lay dead in the grass.

Victim of the farmyard king.

To be honest, I don't really know what this is or why I came up with it. I don't normally write poems (actually never!) yet I felt compelled to rhyme as I free wrote. It's rather Halloween themed :/ even though it's nowhere near October.

I thought this was awesome! I loved the line "Scattered and broke, I gasp as I choke, yet no good will pass, I lay dead in the grass." Very well done!
An incredible piece!
