Cold and Distant

Cold and Distant

A Story by Red
"

Just a short interaction I had with my girlfriend, and how I wish it went. This is super short by the way!

"
I zoned out as she talked about the ice cream places.
I didn't care.
As long I was with her, we could go to a landfill and I wouldn't mind.
"I swear there was a gourmet ice cream shop somewhere!" She exclaimed.
"Look, I dont mind where we go. Just, you plan this date and I'll plan the next one. Ok?" My response sounded cold and annoyed.
This was not how I wanted to sound.
I wanted to sound like I loved her with every piece of my heart.
I meant the statement as a sort of reasurrance. That no matter what we did, I would love it. Instead, I spoke like I hated her.
If she planned this date, I could plan the next. And I have a really good idea, I just wanted her to plan a special day as well.
It sounded wrong when I said what I did.
"Oh, ok. Sure," she laughed nervously.
I walked away from her, towards my dad's car which had just pulled up.
"Yeah. See ya tomorrow!" I attempted, trying to salvage what little pleasure this conversation had.
As we drove away, I saw her frown slightly.
Ugh, god! Why did I have to sound so mean?

You sound like the young me. So many dynamics at work here, the fellow is surely at a disadvantage. This is an excellent, realistic bit of writing that I can really relate to. As much as I wanted to say the right things to girls, I often spewed something stupid while feeling as if my penis was out. Ugh!

Wow. t think this poem was really nice to read. I'm sure your girlfriend forgives you, especially from what I've read about her in your poems. I hope your date is incredible.
