7 Deadly Sins Sonnets -#2 Gluttony

7 Deadly Sins Sonnets -#2 Gluttony

A Poem by Nyghtmare13
"

This is the second of seven sonnets concerning the Seven Deadly Sins, as defined by the Catholic Church. They are older poems that I wrote in High School.

"

Eating, feasting, never, ever stopping,

Eating to satisfy your great hunger,

Slowly, so slowly, you are fattening.

Not eating means terrible, swift anger.

The problem with Gluttony is it’s hard,

Hard to maintain and to quit later.

There will be no song sung by the great bard,

For everyone shall be a great hater.

The Gluttony’s opposite, the virtue

Temperance is hard to do now-a-day.

To the diet it is hard to be true.

Some day you will not make enough in pay.

Seeing you stuffing your face, makes me sad,

Second deadly sin, Gluttony is bad.

Like I mentioned earlier, it is not strictly taboo, but when dealing with suffixes such as 'ing' words, try and get the rhyme to extend beyond that suffix. Don't know how you would do it here though... only word coming to mind is chomping or chopping. And as always, examine syllable counts.
