Boundaries

Boundaries

A Poem by Nwang

We hear them laugh
We hear them scream
On darkened alleys
And empty fields.
Cooped up inside,
Confined by boundaries.
They break off their chains
And follow the heat.

Muffled voices converse in the shadows
As demons lurk behind
The victim screams
Superman does not come
Nor does lightning strike.

The next hour, minute, second
Half-screams, silent tears, cursed heavens
And animals unleashed

The disappearing boundaries,
Of accursed beings
Their voices in colourful scenes,
Temptations of a creature
Confined in chains
Unleashed on blood and flesh

The second, minute, hour
After half-screams, silent tears and cursed heavens.
A woman, her handbag and broken heels.

There was a certain way that I had felt while reading this... The piece so superbly executed that I had felt somewhat transported to a much earlier era of man when we were more barbarians than the supposedly civilized race we claim to be today. This brilliant write feeling like literature forcing a valid point through hard-hitting imagery. Still those wild, brutish beasts... Still those creatures of instinct, almost prisoner to our immediate desires... All those fine lines we dare to cross. An excellent message portrayed here, Nwang. And just wonderfully written.

Thank you for your time reading and reviewing my work ^^
I didn't follow everything here, but the part that I did get was nicely word painted. It seems to be teetering on the idea that people or animals (either one) can become freaky & unpredictable when (1) too many boundaries . . . or (2) boundaries are violated. I like the slightly macabre notes that remind me of Halloween coming up (I am in a macabre mode lately). Your message leaves things to the imagination with hints of gnashing teeth.

You're welcome :)
Oh..I never expected this sort of finale. It is quite heart-breaking, because it is so true. It happens every day and it will keep happening.
Your approach to this particularly sensitive topic is quite original. I like it.

Thank you for your review and I am most certainly going to read your boundaries.
The finale to this piece is a shattering line and a brilliant way to finish...a most poignant and thought provoking poem Nwang, when will humanity realise we are all one and in this game called life together, much enjoyed :)

Thank you for your review!!
Your Boundaries has created powerful imagery, of brutal beasts committing a heinous crime.
A impactful story telling. But unfortunately it is a pathetic reality happening in society every other day.
A wish the humanity becomes free of these accursed beings for ever.
A pathetic occurrence that shakes and shatters the whole existence of soul of the victims as well as those of anyone with a heart.
The way you used the words second, minute, hour two times with different emphasis and context is something that caught me.
Keep writing.
