This Night

These are the stars

Under which we promised eternity,

A similar night shaded dark and blue

As you held me and I held you.

My heart would melt 

At the sound of your voice

And my hand would tremble 

At the soft touch of your skin.

As I looked into your eyes

Deeper than the sea

I would drown,I would drown 

Ever so happily.

The fireflies illuminate the darkness

Like your body at night,

The night wind howls

As if whispering your name.

Now you are gone

Like the stars at dawn

In the arms of another,

In the arms of another.

Your curls now hide another face

The fingers that touch you are not mine

And your lips which had once touched mine

Now kiss another.

The night is dark

And at the stars I am staring

Knowing and feeling your memories

Of a night like this.

 Like the night has forgotten day

I will forget you

Along with all your memories

I will bury my suffering too

As I write the beginning and the end

This maybe our finale.

And next time on a night like this

You will only be a verse in this poetry.

Wow, this is a nice pain filled poem. And how the heart that promised eternity had broken into pieces to the end to say

"I will forget you
Along with all your memories
I will bury my suffering too"

can only portray the amount of betrayal. Nice poem.

Beautiful poem. Expressed nicely. Well done!
I particularly like the 3rd stanza.
I like how passionate the words on this poem flowed - like the bliss, which was felt at the first parts of the poem, then gradually fading away as the loss of the lover happened.
Oh, and there's just a minimal mistake on the last stanza, 3rd line.

That night... which you remember with serenity and innocence has so many memories.. I could relate myself to each line.. All the paragraphs presented here show a particular kind of thought and feeling which a reader can't get distracted from. It sounds very good when you say that one day she will only be a verse...that's true.. but believe me, some memories never die, so as yours... Such deep writings can be only possible in a deep relationship, which you had. You may forget her in future but u can't gorget all those memories or bury them. This is the fact and I too hv experienced it. "A person is hard to be forgotten and his memories are even more harder..."
Any way, your poem was just heart touching...rhymes make it more sensible...loved it...
