I'm never sure now to review a senryu or haiku although I find their elegant simplicity breathtaking at times. Suffice it to say this is truly beautiful and artful at distilling the essence of the emotion. I had to chime in and say so although I can't provide learned critique on it.

Haiku/Senryu are simple enough of a form; but getting that concise cutting twist at the end can be a bit tricky. Japanese poetry really helps a person like me, who is much too verbose and eloquent, to learn how to use short cutting words.
I really like this. I enjoy the form but more so what can be said in such few words. Delivering the message with very little. I lived in Japan for quite awhile and hold it dear in my heart. Great work. Skillful.
I read this as the thoughts of someone dealing with the fallout of a bad choice.
A person that has cheated on their spouse or made a poorly considered decision to have plastic surgery, etc.
To me, the strength of this piece is that it is a truth independent of any specific setting. I think most of us could find a point in our own lives, that would be well defined by this verse.
Love it. It's wonderful. I don't mind there's no Japanese, I don't speak Japanese. :P

Oh. Yuck. I'll be back to work next week though. Ugh....
this is different! rough days .. look both ways .. snuck up on by happy ... :) i like it! i dont know if you know who Ann Landers was but she wrote advice columns (passed away in '02 .. i read something from her a long time ago that has stuck with me all these years .. she said when things are tough and we think we cant take any more .. remind ourselves that in three days we will not remember why we think that .. barring some illness .. i find that it is absolutely true .. your senryu reminds me of that advice.

(I am bad with names) Anyway, it just came to me out of nowhere; and really reminds me of my past. Things would be hell, and without me really realizing it, I would get used to it, and it would just be business as usual. Before I realized it, I would be strangely content with how my life had turned out; and it is like this every time. We just gotta bear with the hardness in life; and hope for a better tomorrow. And in the end, happiness will find us when we least expect it.

I'm a little rusty on Japanese so don't put yourself out on my account. I like the idea, much like the journey _is_ the destination. The struggle is the reward.
