Orange Spiced Cake

If you haven't had it, you are really missing out.

A perfect blend of sweet, sour, zest, and spice

  I don’t like cake; well, except for this slice

It’s all about balance, perfectly aligned

  Just the right blend that I could never find

“Why would I ever want someone like you?

           A lass so simple, you haven’t a clue.”

But to me, everything is simply just right;

     How could I ever not want one more bite?

From your sharp wit and sass, to your freckles

  So admit it already

     You are special

 

     At least to the me,

Who needs more than a mere

        Pan Tres Leches.

i was into making cheese cake for a while back when .. the most memorable was an orange cheese cake .. i kind of made up recipes as i went and this one was perfect (to me)
great trip to the bakery .. a little different poem for you isn't it?

This poem caught my attention from the start -- I love the way you describe her... excitedly, hungrily yet thoughtfully too. This orange spiced cake girl is lucky to have your heart.

Well, I have perfected the recipe over the years; now going so far as a double glaze: on top, a light blend of tangerine juice, powder sugar, and cinnamon... the bottom, a robust 'burnt' blend of Pomegranate Molasses, Orange Blossom Honey, Rum, and Star Anise. (amongst other oddities)
That being said, I am much better at cooking than metaphorical interpretations. Some cakes just don't work after being baked. :) Thanks for the read, and your emphatic declaration for cake, definitely drew a smile.

Good to know! I love challenging myself to try writing new, unique things. I have only been writing for a couple years now, so I am still an amateur, but I feel like I am starting to develop my own voice and balance to writing.

Thanks. I, like most people, don't feel very impressed with my voice; but I at least don't hate it (usually). If nothing else, it is a neutral English accent, with a little here and there from everywhere (cause I am always moving around)
