Rain, Chai and Nostalgia

Rain, Chai and Nostalgia

A Poem by Nupur Joshi

Rain Chai and Nostalgia

She saw the dusky clouds engulf the city.
Remembering the past, her eyes became misty.
Rain was an omen a foreboding of some sort.
It signified dullness or that's what she thought.

He heard the euphonious patter of raindrops.
Saw the rebirth of green hilltops.
The petrichor fragrance lingered in the air,
Reminding him of the memories that they shared

Years had passed, since the last time they had
been there
Experiencing the beauty of hidden glances and
stolen stares
They stood there kulhads full of chai in hand,
While he tucked behind her ear, a loose hair
strand

She looked at the rain while he looked at her,
The rest of the world turned into a blur.
That rain and the chai ki tapri was what brought
them together
Wishing, in that moment they could stay forever.
