Red Tiled FloorsA Poem by NumbWandering along White tiled
floors Red drips
splatter Wrists slit Held open For all the
world to see Blood-drained
skin Big, empty eyes Fingers like
talons Clammy face Dull, lifeless
hair Flows to her
fingertips She walks along Her gray-toned
skin Blending into
the lockers She walks with
no purpose A ghost in the
hall A zombie of high-school No limps to
impair her She can walk
faster But she chooses
not to The blood keeps
flowing Leaving two red
trails in her wake No one pays
attention The girl’s mouth
is ajar Her white teeth
are perfect A result of
former braces Her trails get
smudged By other
students Who don’t care
about her life The girl falls
to the floor She has lost all
her blood She has lost her
humanity Without the will
to go on The girl finally
gave up And succumbed to
her death Her corpse lay
on the floor The smeared
trails leading to her Again, no one
notices Students and
teachers Walks the halls
as if Nothing was
different They smear the
blood trails Kick and scuff
up her body In the time of
five minutes The hallway
clears Not blood nor
girl remains Everything is
normal again Now everyone
waits For another
zombie to come And be forgotten © 2010 NumbFeatured Review
