A Moment Of SilenceA Poem by Ntandoyenkosi NgcoboA collaboration by Ziphozonke Masondo and Ntandoyenkosi Ngcobo
Before I begin this poem, I'd like to ask for a moment of silence.
Because the silence speaks so many words when attentively listened to, Even though words have now been reduced to innocuous magnetic poetry on the refrigerator of our consciousness, Hiding in shelves of shelved esteem, Poetry is now diluted and spoken words now have expiry dates, Dates that fall to the ground amidst the ashes of amnesia, Days harvest in the ground, Each soil particle contains a story to tell, Together in the garden they sing a chorus that attracts sunlight to dry the droplets of yesterday, This is were the poets are laid to rest, Spoken words by those laid to rest make the earth shake, For when they speak the plates of the earth relate, Not too late, Here the roses are red, The violets are blue, As they grow to the garden tune, Before I begin this poem, I'd like to ask for a moment of silence. © 2015 Ntandoyenkosi NgcoboFeatured Review
