Don't Go Back...

so this is the first thing I've written in about three maybe four years. think it sums up how I've been feeling. please criticise and be nice if needed/deserving.

I am sitting here alone

Thoughts rushing through my head

I can’t make sense of anything

Except be careful how you tread

The path ahead is narrow

The ice bellow is thin

One wrong move, its over

Your mind will be sucked in

 

Don’t let this feeling take you

To the darkest place you know

Please don’t go back there

Think positive, just let go

 

Its easier said than done

We all know that is true

But now it is your moment

Time to step up and protect you

 

If you can slowly get back

To the place you were before

Anything is possible

The world’s your oyster and more.

When I review other writers I always aim to be honest and constructive. I'd encourage you to include more (no matter how small) concrete details. Your poem here seems vague, in terms of vague statements without intimate details (such as a cup ☕️ of tea or what deed or place or object that is linked to a certain emotion you feel). This is important because we poets paint pictures with words to better enlighten others on all subjects we depict.
However, a balance should be there in portraying the general and the specific, peculiar, between vagueness and concreteness.

We all can learn from each other, and that's what writing and Writers Cafe is all about.
