Dance of the Cats

Dance of the Cats

A Poem by NANA

The sun is setting,
the moon is out.
This is the beginning of night.

The crickets are chirping,
the stars are about.
This is it, the time is right.

Fellow felines, gather round
and listen to the silence of
the wonderful bliss of the night,
the darkness with which we are in love.

Dance, my friends, under the light
cast by the full moon in shadow sky.
We cats will dance and sing all night
until, at last, the music die.

Stuff yourselves with the feast
we gather from the alley cans.
We own the night,
we are the beasts who scour the street,
avoiding man.

We chase the mice
who dare to peek
out of their safe and peaceful homes.
We pray on anything that's weak.
It's easiest when we're alone.

What's this, my friends?
The light of dawn?
But there's no need for sorrow.
Although our beloved night has gone.
We'll dance again tomorrow.
