MotherA Poem by NANAFor Mom
Let's go for a drive
down that busy street And even though the cars zoom past, it's just you. Let's go for a drive. Doesn't matter where. As long as we can sing off-key I'll be fine. We can have our long talks about absolutely nothing. We can have our cake and eat it, too, As long as it's chocolate. I'll even let you ground me for absolutely nothing if it means something to you. Tell me to "be nice". Tell me to "behave". Tell me to be something that you'd be proud to call your child. I'll find my niche someday and, whether you like it or not, I want to make you proud to call me your child. I'm going to make you proud to call me your child. Please be proud to call me your child. And maybe someday we can sit and watch the rain again, or go for a drive down that busy street. And even though the cars zoom past, it's just you.
