Poison

Poison

A Poem by November Gold

What is it about your poison that I crave?

Even my hatred for you runs white hot through my veins

Like a liquid aphrodisiac.

Why must I taste that which will surely be my end?

You tempt me with your evil charm and lure me in

Like a starving man to a steak.

What lies behind your alluring smile that makes me so weak?

Even my desire to slap your face creates a stir

And an itch that I know better than to scratch.

I beg you to slither away to the hole you came out of,

Leave me behind and seek me no more

Just quietly go and shut the door tightly behind you.

I found an antidote to your poison

A new view of myself and of you

And now that my eyes are open and my mind is clearing

I see it all for what it is, what it was, and

What it can never be.

Such emotion and what cobra ever spat such venom as this for you really vented the hate not only of him but yourself for needing to be with him, glad you finally scratched that itch and applied cream to keep it away. Reformed love junkie with another addiction ...writing powerful poetry, keep em' coming

Some temptations can tempt us and leave us confuse. Hard to escape the desire. I did like the ending. Sometimes we need to think things out and do the right thing. I like the ending to the outstanding poem.

You are telling a nice point of truth many can relate to in life I think, we all probably have had such moment of love poison in our life... And the healing way to get rid of it, will be hard sometimes... but it is possible... This is very well written.

I'm guessing this was about something forbidden. Anything forbidden is always the sweetest---sin--- and most, if not all, give i to temptation. Well, in the beginning, it did happen. Great write!

A wonderful expression of desire and lust, I like the way you are practically begging to for your soul to be free of the temptations of the heart.
