Snow PoeA Poem by Jack ShadowPoem about Poe
Snow often reminds me of Poe
And Poe reminds me of the garden variety Hoe In the sense that a Hoe is very dark Much like the situation painted in The Cask of Amontillado is very stark But perhaps stark is not the right word It is more like eerily, drearily, miserably dark But not to be repetitive Poe proves himself to be quite titillative In his works of utter terror and arousing fright One could almost say that he stirs me to rapid flight Past my reading chair and down the stairs To a comforting embrace whereupon I would bury myself in someones hair And so forget the horror that I once saw Nonetheless it continues to gnaw Like a hungry jaw never ceasing in its feasting While I stare down at this book in terrified awe © 2008 Jack Shadow |
