So I Know This Girl...

So I Know This Girl...

A Poem by NotYourChinaDoll
"

Just something I put together for my best friend.

"

So I know this girl

She’s the opposite of me

She’s young and she’s crazy

She’s bright and she’s free

She can do with ease

What would fill me with dread

She could make friends with a hermit

Or dance on a bed

She subdues my cynical quips

With a dose of sickening optimism

She ignores my jaded practicality

And gushes romanticism

She loves with all she is

She’s innocent and naive

She’s one up on “realistic” me

Who waits for love to leave

She has a genuine compassion

And only authentic love

She doesn’t hold back anything

And trusts in God above

Everyone around her

Is attracted to her light

200 men are constantly competing

To be her final knight

While she flits around the sky

I’m planted firmly on the ground

I would never her judge her choices

Though mine appear more “sound”

What good is sound

When you’re sound alone?

Besides which, she’ll never change

She’s good down to the bone

So I know this girl

She drives me nuts

With her hunt to find a mister

But I’m glad that she’s my friend

And I love her like a sister

I wish I could love as honestly, completely, and freely as this girl I know

NotYourChinaDoll
I know it's got some major issues as far as flow and such. It was just for fun and sometimes my ideas just didn't fit perfectly. She loved it, and that's all that matters :)
