sleep tight, now

sleep tight, now

nothing just flashlights and sirens wailing outside my window
I am lying down, missing the view
A load of sleep over my eyes
yes it has been accomplished, done
right now, I am witnessing it
and you, hell knows where the stairs are taking you.

Between a few broken Spanish words and some cold fajita,
our love was as stale
as that restaurant by my house, out of business.
Thus, no shudders came, no thought of remorse
when the cold, blade penetrated your skin
dull, lifeless not soft, supple as I expected
no blood, only a $7 dress got spoiled.
No worries, I can buy a better one at my earliest chance
Blue cotton with white polka dots all over
But don't wear it to forget our Saturday nights
We never promised, but oaths are taken I presumed
while crumbling at the sudden loss of weight.

I had always told you, learn some languages
You focused on cotton dresses with pretty printings
Now look what happened?
I guess you never really made sense
Did you?

Thankfully, we both get to sleep now
some a little longer than the other.
A well deserved rest, after all.
