inertia

inertia

A Poem by Nothing Personal
"

why I stop before I roll/ what stops me

"
melting pots reminds me of half cooked heat
tea always is slightly more sweet
you and me need to make love again
the storm will brew just about in time.

No airplane crashes into buildings
No surprise illness to succumb me in
No crazy shooter to shut down in fear
No ice and winter during late spring.

Waiting,
waiting for things to happen
and the world to change
being fully aware
that we are static
although
the universe
dares to expand
faster than the speed of light
into chasms of darkness
engulfing.

Mornings are slow to roll by
sitting arrangements improve speed
when can we marry and live together dear?
when can my life be finally
up to speed

I know those days that just seem to hang there with nothing significant happening, nothing moving on... just 'waiting', whilst the universe seems to be moving 'faster than the speed of light'... time running out. This reminds of Marvell's 'To His Coy Mistress'. I particularly like the varied structure of the parts that make up the whole in this poem. Effective and well-expressed!

Great title... I agree with Ostensible Truth says...'love the almost simple depth to the words'...I think we all can relate to days like these...sluggish, stale, yet life is moving on...well done...

the restlessness and confidence of a man...who knows what he wants...and musings on light, fight, and the darkness of the night...
