Perceptive Solitude

Perceptive Solitude

A Poem by Nothing Personal

Lonely door leads to ephemeral darkness
There's light in that corner of the room
the forgotten corner, the one out of reach.
Forget to glance at the clock,
at the rotating fangs of the moving fan
Wait for the cloud outside to lift
into a blue sky
the one which is photogenic.

Sundays are like Tuesdays now,
The work is finishing no work by five
The road is beset with sirens
and cars which are moments
away from a fearful crash.
The old man by the grocery shop
smiles at you
when you buy orange juice and bread
The girl by the coffee shop wishes you 'Good day'
after the sun has already disappeared.
The taste of cocoa never seems to leave your mouth
but no-one will ever know
because no one would come close to take that breath
the breath of your breath and say ugh.

Shops are closed
There is a snowstorm in prediction
even if no snowstorm is on its way.
Hunting apartments down the road
leads to self discovery and coherent solitude
Homes are isn't to find.

To most problems,
women are the best solution
they smile, solves it
they talk, solves it.
they make no sense, solves it.
they tag along, solves it.
But sometimes, they don't.

Coming back to the lonely door,
you hear voices from inside,
male and female voices,
sound of kids playing,
water running from taps,
chicken's being roasted ,
a laughter, some unheard sighs.
Knock the door before turning the key in,
Surprise !!!

Hahaha! That's us ladies alright.

I don't really get the hidden meaning or idea in this poem. But I like the flowing images. They present reality with its colorful and not so colorful. Nice write.

I love this poem, all the way through. It reminds me of those days when you're making all kinds of small life altering decisions (like finding a new place to live), all on your own, and it's both lonely and kind of spirit expanding at the same time. Lovely write, I'll be thinking of it a lot today. (And yes, we women are good to have along for chores like that, lol.)
