Addicted

Addicted

A Poem by Nothing Personal
"

So what am I addicted to?

"
Seeds of death, sown in each soul
In the baby, the young , the very old
Walk past the streets , do your daily task
Can you all feel, life, flowing past?

Life revolves mundane , three storied offices
In absence of love, Lucy's are paid
Can purchased breasts , synthetic kisses feel same
O what will I do now, My life's in vain.

Why haven't I, taken a tour of the world?
Read all those books, Watched all those slides
Treasured all those girls, who wanted to be mine
Looked at expensive mirrors, praised when I had time.

I have an illness , strange and wise
Medicine unprescribed , doctors denied
Compare a lightning flash to dim candlelight
Addicted to life, I don't want to die.

(I thought I reviewed this before...but maybe I just read it...) It was good for a second read...I love what you do anyway, so it's no surprise! Great work, I especially liked:
"Can purchased breasts , synthetic kisses feel same"
and
"I have an illness , strange and wise
Medicine unprescribed , doctors denied
Compare a lightning flash to dim candlelight
Addicted to life, I don't want to die"

this is genius!! some of the imagery is so profound and the message is so relevant to modern contemporary society!! "seeds of death" - powerful!! We're all addicted to life in our different ways, for the better and worst it seems! (I also like your rhythm here - especially in the last stanza)! nice and a great response to a prompt!!

I agree with livelaughlove. This poem centered towards a common topic through uniquely written stanzas. I felt pain, regret, fear, attachment, and the strange love for life. Thank you for sharing. Keep writing.

I really love this. Its so well written, and the best part, its so very true to the current scenarios. I really love this poem, and it was really an amazing read for me. But would you actually make a list of all those girls.

Um... wow.
I really liked this poem as it was simple to read but it was deeper then you'd expect. A beautiful piece.

Good work, so many are substance addicted, but if you have to be addicted to something it may as well be life, you will achieve more good in doing that than sucking on alcohol or dope.
