Gemma

Gemma

A Poem by Nothing Personal
"

Oliver answers back to Gemma , a song we will never hear.

"
"Oliver
You kicked a hole through my heart
And left me with the whistling sound
As the wind blows through
With duct tape
And an open bag, I covered it up
And put back on my sweater
So I look the same
But I'm a little different now

I might look the same
I might look the same
But I'm a little different now
Now

Oliver
You ripped the smile off my face
And fed it to the winter birds
Why wicked boy

Oliver
You are my blackness, Oliver
You are my lightness
My defestator "

- Gemma ( Gemma Hayes)

Gemma,
I thought you were wiser
I thought you would see through my heart
And ask me to stay.

Gemma,
I could not see you stop
Because of me,
Because of my stupid love
Whose worth i never tared.

Look where you are now,
Ain't i your lightness now,
What would you say dear?

Of silent screams and frozen summers,
Of locked cabins and dried pears,
Of cigarettes and petty old lines,
Poor old memories and a few tears
Here and there..

You are not the same ,
Your hairs have gone messier
Your eyes deeper, but sullen
You look beautiful, just so
I know you are the still the same.
I know you are still the same now...

Oliver

Author's Note

Nothing Personal
Its probably a prerequisite to listen to Gemma's ( Gemma Hayes) Oliver before reading this one. If you do, you'll know why. The poem apparently was born in her eyes.

I like how you put conversation in this poem. this is sad and is easy to relate to.

The song should definitely be a prerequisite to the poem...It made so much more sense once I watched it. Very good, an answer un-asked. Very lovely.

Her song was beautiful, and your poem was beautiful, the answer back, the other side, the missed cues between the two.

Excellent piece.

I just wanted everyone to know that the first side of the story was written by Gemma Hayes. I thought i would do a Oliver's story.

i agree, i love how you told both sides of the story, most people don't do that. it added a lot of meaning to the poem i like it a lot!

The poem shows the two sides of a story well. It tells of pain and the change that takes place when two people go their different ways. Nice job.
