Life itself

Life itself

A Poem by Nothing Personal

Sitting in an empty office with no windows

(claustrophobic)

There are too many papers lying around

Thinking of you

who is constantly adding random numbers

only to subtract them later

Life is a zero-sum game, someone famously said

Thousands are dead now

Hundreds are still alive.

memories,

they haunt at curious places

-public hot water tubs amidst an almost invisible starlit sky.

things we cannot see,

the list goes on.

Sometimes,

I feel I get it all,

the contradictions I comprehend

but poetry,

Poetry I don't really follow

it remains utterly meaningless to me.

If every road leads to the same destination,

why bother traveling by foot?

Couples plan vacations carefully

Timesheets and itinerary

Which AirBnb to choose?

all that jazz

all in the modicum of time

The scar of loneliness

is now safe between my fingers.

Frames last longer than memories,

an unfortunate coincidence,

Rain and alcohol

Dreams of illicit affairs in unknown countries

Fewer roads and a lot of silence in between.
