SmouldersA Poem by NoteworthyA poem on lasting love basking in the comfort of familiarity
Hold my hand
Like you hold your thoughts Clutching my fingers Loose at our palms Glide your fingers Through my own Our knuckles dancing With languid love Run your thumb Along my wrist Tracing the words Unspoken between us My pulse fluttering With every caress Like a teenager Crazed by hormones Let us lay here In a stupor of comfort We earned this peace Through love's war The battles have ended Our truce signed Hearts blood long dried On the pages The history has wrought Our loves very foundation Tested by time passed Bound by obstinance The fires burn deep They do not consume us Smouldering beneath They warm us still Leaving us content To hold our hands In friendship first Forged by flames My spine tingles As your I feel you move Your kiss hot Upon my neck © 2024 Noteworthy |
