Sticks and Stones

Sticks and Stones

A Poem by Alex Wong

Mirrors crack as objects fly,

Words of malice flutter by,

Damning words that push you down,

“You Fool, you Stupid, Worthless Clown.”

No one cares to set you free,

No one cares enough to see,

The wrath of fury sinking in,

You're cringing, scratching at your skin,

How long will they still second-guess,

Your earnest cries to confess?

All you wish is for this to end,

For them to give you time to mend,

But vicious laughter still rings in ears,

Faltering smiles just wont cover fears,

What have you done this time around?

No doubt it was you; so don’t make a sound.

No emotion, Not to shout,

Don’t let your screams whisper out,

Sticks and stones may break your bones,

But it’s their doubt and words that kill you.

Outstanding rhyme and meter. Indeed, words are harmful and can leave scars that never go away.

emotion in an apathetic world - silence - to one craves it - but is it grace rather that is desired that comes from an uncorked outpouring of the soul ----

love the innocence in this mixed with the experience - nice battle there -
